Ha, some tiny little island around New Zealand issued a stamp celebrating the upcoming wedding of useless English royalty. And it splits down the middle. Like Princess Diana and Prince Charles split, ha.

Ha Ha

Of course they don’t mean anything by it. Because who would find that suspicious?

Some advice for the happy couple, who are getting married this month, from the child of divorced parents: I turned out OK, but I don’t want my kid to go through that. So I have a ‘no one gets out alive’ policy. We will not divorce. But that doesn’t mean we can’t kill each other. And killing someone and covering it up is such a pain in the ass that I think we’ll be together forever. Aw, love.

So, we here at Yellow Menace are not particularly politically-minded. And by ‘we’, I mean me. Hell, before all this shit blew up with Libya, all I knew about Libyans was that they killed Doc Brown. “THE LIBYANS!!!!”

But this tickled me. Behold, THE YELLOW MENACE in action!

Oh SHIT!

And some funnier ones:

Motherfucking talking pandas!

And the real story

So today I was thinking of Dango Gonta for some reason. Dango Gonta is a supremely weird little shot film by Akitaroh Daichi, an anime director who did Now and Then, Here and There and Jubei-chan. In the film, a kid named Gonta has to take down his nemesis, Garibari (Is that spelled correctly? Who cares?). Shapiro Keats found it some years ago and watched it every few days for a period of several months. We hadn’t seen it in a couple years, but we still enjoyed trading inside jokes in the film’s magnificent Engrish:

“Garibari cannot be forgiven!”

“Gonta gets very strong when a dumpling is eaten!”

“Oh! Make me fall over!”

And now I share Dango Gonta with all of you.

DANGO GONTA

Enjoy.

Win. Win. WIN.

South Park + Lovecraft + Totoro

This mash-up makes perfect sense, when you think about it.

>sigh< I wish I had an Elder God to do my evil bidding…

Yesterday, our friends at Daily Bento (www.dailybento.com) featured this delicious Gundam fan film from back in the day. It recreates an epic mobile suit battle from the show- with people. But they’re not dressed in Gundam costumes, oh no. They’re just wearing clothes  and wielding cardboard weapons. Which somehow makes it more awesome than if they’d actually constructed costumes.

Rad.

I found some kind of funny Schick razor commercials from Japan, posted on this blog dedicated to shaving and shaving accessories.

Shaving Stuff

In other news, there is a blog dedicated to shaving and shaving accessories.

I don’t get why the shaving blogger is so mystified; the whole point is that you can shave while skydiving/boxing/whatever and never cut yourself with this awesome razor. Although, I could probably manage to cut myself with it if I was just standing still. I get this weird red rash every time I shave my legs, so I try not to (sorry Shapiro Keats).

I like the last commercial with the haunted house the best; the Shaving Superheroes keep falling down in fright but never cut themselves (pussies…)! Although watching a big fat dude ride a mechanical bull is always entertaining, I can see that shit at Bobby Mackey’s any Saturday night I want.

We’d mentioned Nanaca Crash, a fun little Flash game featuring characters from the Japanese visual novel Cross Channel, in an earlier incarnation of the site, but since we haven’t reposted it at Yellow Menace yet, here goes.

Incidentally, my current record is 3699.48 meters.

Whatchu lookin at?

Whatchu lookin' at?

A series of photos captures the daring near-escape of panda cub Wen Li at the Chengdu Giant Panda Research Institute. I guess the researchers now know that panda cubs can escape their cribs like human babies.

FREEDOM!

Researchers have also decided that pandas breed infrequently because they are too damn exhausted taking care of one cub to go for a second anytime soon. I can understand that. HEAR THAT, MOM? TOO DAMN EXHAUSTED FOR A SECOND ONE.

I’ve gone on-call at the bookstore where I used to work, and last night was my first night back. I got to have this great conversation:

Co-worker: “AnaKhouri, there is a customer on the phone who wants this movie…” >consults slip of paper< “‘Nailin’ Palin’. Do we have it?”

Me: “…that’s a PORNO. Um, don’t ask me how I know that.”

I said it kind of louder than I should have, but I was surprised and luckily there was no one around. The bookstore does carry DVDs, but not of that…ahem…nature.

Sarah Palin did a signing at the bookstore earlier that day, but even if someone had brought that DVD I somehow doubt she would have signed it.

Hustler made the movie, by the way, and there is a sequel in the works called “Obama is Nailin’ Palin.”

The ever-witty Max Blumenthal approached Michelle Malkin at the 2007 CPAC conference and asked her to sign a photo of Japanese-American detainees in Manzanar. Malkin’s reaction is predictable, but entertaining (spoiler: it ends in flee-age).

Best line: ‘You had to issue errata?’

I have to say it though, Malkin is cute when she’s cornered.

Let’s face it: most anime music videos are crap. They’re badly edited and repetitive and use the same three Linkin Park songs (Full disclosure: I adore Linkin Park. But they have three whole albums of good songs from which to choose).

But sometimes you can find a perfect synthesis of music and footage that makes for comic gold. These three videos are such blends.

Our friends at weirdasianews.com have collected an impressive group of Engrish signs for your native English-speaking entertainment:

Giant Panda Waiting Area

I admit I found the first picture the funniest (maybe just because I’ve been seeing a lot o OB-GYNs lately…and also my sense of humor stopped developing when I was, oh, 4) but I’d really like to spend some time in the Giant Panda Waiting Area as well. What are they waiting for? Extinction?

I was about to hit the sheets when I saw this on the telly. Being Irish-Filipino myself, it’s doubly funny.

Here’s another version, better quality – but shorter and not as funny.
