Yahoo! hires lap-dancers to servce Nrrds at Taiwan Hack Day event

Internet corporation Yahoo! got itself in a little hot water last weekend after it paid a bunch of strippers to shake their moneymakers at a recent Hack Day event in Taiwan. I’ll be honest – I’m trying really hard to be indignant about this, and it’s just not workin’. Yahoo! wanted a memorable event, and they got one – although it might not be the kind of ‘memorable’ they were looking for. The guys in the chairs don’t look too upset (although they seem to have adopted the omigodahotchickisrubbingherassonmycrotchandihavenoideawhattodo stance), and I’m sure the strippers were well paid.

So – whatever…Yahoo! apologized (albeit in a smarmy, sanitized, PR-ese sorta way) and people are gonna bitch for a while, and there are probably women and children being raped at gunpoint in some corner of Africa at the moment. I’m pretty sure lap dancing at some corporate-sponsored geek event rates fairly low on the scale of human atrocities.
