The live-action adaptation of the manwha Priest is getting a star-packed cast, sort of. There’s Paul Bettany, who I only saw in one other movie but he was pretty good, and Brad Dourif, who is very sleazy-looking, and Christopher Plummer. I love Christopher Plummer. He is the only reason to watch The Sound of Music (he stands around looking all hot while everyone else prances about singing songs about cheering up while all around them Nazis are rounding up Jews/dissidents/gypsies/homosexuals etc), and despite being very stately and imposing and British, he’s been in some crap. Such as Dracula 2000. And Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (OK, so that one was decent…better than ST 5, anyway).  Oh, and Alexander. You wouldn’t think a movie about Alexander the Great could ever be boring but…Oliver Stone managed, somehow.

Priest Cast

There are some other people listed in the article but I’ve never heard of them. Probably because they are from vampire things, and I hate the modern take on vampires. I might still see Priest, though.

Around the same time Priest came out, there was another Tokyopop manwha called Island that I actually liked better. It’s about this lady who goes to a Korean island and all the demons on the island decide to try to rape her. The only person who can help her is a serial killer named Pan. And later in the series there is this messed-up monk and a cross-dressing priest-type and tons of crazy violence. It’s out of print now, but if you can find a copy it’s only 7 volumes and worth the read.
