Once again, if you’re reading this, you probably know what 2chan is: the Japanese forerunner of the den of iniquity that is 4chan. But apparently 2chan is a little more…respectable. After all, they got my favorite artist in the world, Yoshitaka Amano, to draw pictures of their famous ascii art mascots.
He drew one today, which hasn’t been posted yet, and should be doing one tomorrow, which might actually might be today thanks to the time change.
Anyway, I think it would be cool to see how he works, and if anyone can make ascii art look gorgeous and surreal, it’s Amano. So I don’t agree it’s a waste of talent at all.
I am of the belief that an artist makes art, regardless of medium. I think it's refreshing when an artist takes his work in a different direction, so even though I know absolutely nothing about this particular artist or 2chan, I say, good for him.
