Live-Action Beck Coming at You!
Harold Sakuishi’s Beck is the latest manga to be getting a live-action adaptation.
I haven’t read the manga, but the anime was great; it’s the story of an up-and-coming Japanese rock band and all the drama surrounding their attempts to make it big. But it’s realistic, not lame and silly like Gravitation (even the parts with American rapper gangsters going after the lead guitarist seem, well, plausible, I guess).
The anime is pretty involved and the manga is supposedly even longer so I’m not sure how they plan to cram the whole story into a 2-hour movie. And the guy playing Koyuki (the main character, who is all of 14 in the manga/anime) is 20 years old, but being Asian he can probably pull it off.
