Scorses Takes on “Silence”

It seems director Martin Scorsese is planning to release a cinematic adaptation of Shuskau Endo’s novel Silence.

I’m cautiously optimistic. Scorsese is a hit-or-miss kind of guy in my opinion, and the book is deep and twisted, exploring Endo’s own tortured relationship with his Catholic faith and the contradictions contains therein. But the movie reportedly stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Benicio del Toro and Gael Garcia Bernal- a steller (and good-looking) cast.

I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed.
