Yaoi Fans Rejoice: New Smut for You!

Good news for yaoi fans: the Ai no Kusabi novels (which are legendary in yaoi fandom) are getting the anime treatment-for the second time- more than twenty years after the books were first released in Japan.

The first Ai no Kusabi anime came out in the early 90’s and consisted of two OAVs; they’ve never been licensed in America. The new series will be longer, thirteen episodes.

The story has a bit of an S&M feel to it; I tried reading the first novel, got bored about three chapters in and gave up (What? I’m not getting any younger and I’m not going to waste time reading stuff I don’t like).  But if this new series gets good reviews I will probably check it out, more out of curiosity than anything.

Also, does anyone else think the new character design for the guy whom I assume is Iason (in the ANN article) resembles the actor who plays Malfoy’s dad in the Harry Potter movies?

Here’s the basic plot:

The story is set in the future on the planet named Amoi which is controlled by a supercomputer named Jupiter. Among the mostly male human population, the light-haired elite class is allowed to temporarily keep the dark-haired “mongrels” as pets. One elite member, Iason, encounters a mongrel named Riki in the slums and decides to take him in. However, Iason keeps Riki longer than it is socially approved, and rumors abound about their possible relationship.
