Spike Spiegel speaks to MTV

I read this report over at AICN Anime last night, and after sleeping on it, I’m thinking Keanu Reeves might not be such a bad choice to headline Cowboy Bebop. As Scott Green points out, Keanu certainly has the look – and Spike Spiegel has about as much dialogue in Cowboy Bebop as Ein, the dog. I’ve always maintained that Reeves works well in roles where his dialogue is limited. I realize that doesn’t say much for his acting ability, but if all he’s called upon to do is mumble a bit and beat the crap out of people, I think he’ll do just fine.

The caveat to this, of course, is whether or not the screenwriters will be comfortable writing a script in which the main character mumbles a bit and beats the crap out of people. I have no illusions that whatever makes it to the screen will be anything other than wierd mirror-image of Cowboy Bebop (Speed Racer anyone ?) but I am curious to see what comes of it.
