Former porn actress, bestselling author Ai Iijima dead at 36
Japanese adult actress and author Ai Iijima was found dead of unspecified causes yesterday. Iijima moved beyond pornographic film early in her career, and became well-known in Japan as a television celebrity and author. Her semi-autobiographical work Platonic Sex became a best seller and was adapted into a film and television series.
In recent years Iijima was plagued by a number of setbacks, including being fleeced for 100 million yen by an embezzler and undisclosed health issues which forced her into semi-retirement in 2006.
